When should my child first see a dentist?

Children should have their first dental visit within six months of the eruption of the first baby tooth and no later than their first birthday. This appointment is needed to carefully examine the development of their mouth and to safeguard against problems such as baby bottle tooth decay, teething irritations and prolonged thumb-sucking. Most importantly, it can help establish a positive relationship between your child and the dentist.
